Accountability - Are You Serving Yourself?

Edited by Joanne Berry

In my previous post, we discussed the practice of self-awareness. I suggested that if you wanted to dive into the practice for deeper introspection, you should:

  • Actively retreat for stimulation of the body, mind and spirit

  • Spend time alone

  • Meditate for reflective thought, do your inner work

When truthfully fulfilling the practice of self-awareness, with no bypassing and avoidance, you may encounter similar questions:

“What the hell is going on?”

“Why do I keep on doing this to myself?”

“This is unbelievable, I feel so good!”

With time and deeper reflection, a wonderful self-discovery arises, answering those questions of your spirit. Oftentimes, the answers also reveal necessary changes and transitions. Even if you’re experiencing joy and want to sustain that feeling, I suggest being accountable to yourself.

Accountability may look like scheduling time for fitness, mental or physical health therapy, tracking your nutrition, learning a new skill, or developing your career plan. It could also mean cultivating a new hobby in a group setting, with a coach or alone. Please do your research and align your actions with trusted individuals and resources necessary to support your desired goals.

Furthermore, assume responsibility for accomplishing these goals. Reach out to me at Wellside Retreats, if you feel stuck and need the support of a life coach. When you make a decision on what’s required to move forward and are consistent in your actions, your wellbeing flourishes.

Serve yourself well to sustain the wellness you already own.

Serve yourself well by holding yourself accountable.
