Day 6 of the I am Feeling Good Challenge - Nuture Relationships
Welcome to Day 6 of the I Am Feeling Good Challenge! How are you doing? I hope you’re well in every way as we continue to explore our well being..
Today’s challenge focuses on you and others . On tap in this post are the benefits of social interaction and relationships. This is an area that may be a little tough for some of us as mature individuals who’ve navigated many varied relationships and finds this idea “too much work”. Well, I get it. Hang in here with me.
Cultivating and fostering valuable relationships may sound stressful but it doesn’t have to be difficult. There are ways to include people in your life that are rewarding and beneficial. Ultimately, nurturing relationships as well as social interaction is important for longevity and also helps those “feel good” emotions to flourish. As we mature, it’s important to surround ourself with engaging activity and continue getting out into the world.
So you might be asking, how can all of this building or nutruing take place in one day? You’re right about that but you can get started or continue the nurturing in one day - today!
What can happen today and days ahead is to take one action toward building a connection to an old friend you haven’t heard from or contacted. Another action you can take is opening up to newness and attend an event where you can socialize with others. There’s plenty of ways to get relationships started with like minded people who may share your interests and are also meeting new people.
Benefits of Social Interaction and Cultivating Relationships for Positive Feelings
1. Enhanced Emotional Well-being: Social interaction and cultivating relationships contribute to positive feelings by providing emotional support. Developing close connections with others allows individuals to share their thoughts, concerns, and joys, leading to improved emotional well-being. Through meaningful conversations and shared experiences, people can find comfort, empathy, and a sense of belonging, boosting their overall mood.
2. Stress Reduction: Engaging in social interaction and maintaining relationships can help alleviate stress. Interacting with others provides an opportunity for relaxation, laughter, and fun, all of which help to reduce stress levels. Go have some fun!
3. Increased Self-esteem: Social interactions contribute to increased self-esteem. When we engage with others, receive their praise or affirmation, and experience a sense of being valued, our self-confidence grows. Positive feedback is like a love letter.
4. Improved Mental Health: Loneliness and social isolation can lead to feelings of anxiety and depression. On the other hand, spending time with others and maintaining meaningful connections can provide a sense of purpose, strengthen our sense of identity, and improve overall psychological well-being.
5. Longevity and Health Benefits: There’s research that suggests social interaction and strong relationships promote physical health and longevity. Engaging in meaningful social connections has been linked to lower blood pressure, reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases, and even increased immune system functioning. The positive emotions generated through social interactions contribute to a healthier lifestyle, where individuals are more likely to engage in self-care practices and make healthier choices..
Today’s challenge is probably one of the most important that I note. We are not meant to be on this planet alone. No matter if you are not a social butterfly it’s key to make time for socializing, nurturing relationships, and experiencing the uplifting power of human connection.
Day 6 Affirmation
"I am cultivating and nurturing genuine connections, enriching the lives of those around me with love, compassion, and understanding."
Quote of the Day
“To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world” - Dr. Suess
Create a great day and consider connecting with someone whose voice you’d like to hear or just maybe, go out and bless the world with your presence and share your light with others. I believe it will make you feel good!
I’ll be back tomorrow for more of the I Am Feeling Good challenge!
