So, What's Your Story?

During the week of March 9-13, I held a self imposed 5 Day Storytelling Challenge! The idea was inspired by my son who suggested that not too many people knew what I was doing as an entrepreneur and I needed to tell ALL about what I was about and basically tell people why I was even “doing” Wellside Retreats.

I explained that I had been “doing” quite a bit with my new little business. He didn’t quite understand that he is not my target audience and that he hasn’t had any interest in what I was doing. However, he was sincere in wanting to help me in some way. He actually helped me quite a bit.

I took him up on his suggestion and told a 5-8 minute story each day. My stories related to my journeys to heal. I discussed my own transitions I’ve made from early adulthood and beyond. I’m quite pleased with my ability to open up to the scrolling viewer and turn them into a listener on my Facebook page. I also invited those who follow me on my Instagram page to click the think to view my video for 5 straight days.

It was an exercise in consistency, creativity, truth, vulnerability and plain ole marketing for my heartfelt service business. I solidified in my spirit why have the desire to create, curate and host destination retreats for women who need to spend time away from their everyday lives, get some time to reflect and benefit from “ME” time so that they can return home to the new possibilities of life and their journey ahead.

What I also want thefollower “ or the ‘liker’ to do from the challenge is to tell their very own personal story. There is no need to have an audience to tell one’s story of joy, pain or something in between. It’s important to sit and write or express self from time to time. Take up a journal, canvas or express yourself by dancing, singing or getting active in your garden. Getting in touch with the person you are, who you are becoming and maybe even the person you would like to be. It’s empowering!

Be Well.
