Day 8 of the I Am Feeling Good Challenge - Create!
It’s Day 8 of the I Am Feeling Challenge. It’s my hope that you’ve created great days for yourself during this time.
As a reminder and the focus of today’s post is that we are all creators and have unlimited talents and abilitlities - usually untapped - that can make us happy. Many of us who know their gifts of creating whether that be a hobbie or part of their sustaining livelyhood find pleasure in experiencing the unfolding of something they have created. But some of us aren’t quite sure what are talents are and how to create something that is fulfilling.
How to Create for Emotional Fullfilment
First, lets start with the definition of create: to bring (something) into existence. It takes action and moving something from within yourself is a beautiful thing.
Below are a few steps that may help you this season take action or make a plan to find what may make you feel great in creating.
1. Choose a Creative Outlet - You Get to Choose!
Get quiet and still to listen, gain clairity on what you may want to create. Identify a creative activity that resonates with you and brings you joy. This could be painting, writing, playing a musical instrument, gardening, or any other creative pursuit that speaks to your soul.
2. Set Intentions:
Determine the emotional outcome you seek to achieve through your creative endeavor. Do you want to feel joy, gratitude, peace, or a sense of accomplishment? Clarifying your intentions will help guide your process and ensure you're focusing on emotional fulfillment.
3. Find Inspiration:
Surround yourself with inspiration that aligns with your creative goals. Explore a variety of sources such as books, podcasts, art galleries, or simply spending time in nature. Engaging with inspiring content stimulates creativity and enhances emotional well-being.
4. Create a Dedicated Space:
Establish a physical or mental space dedicated to your creative process. This can be a studio, a cozy corner in your home, or a set time each day when you devote your attention solely to your creative pursuits. Having a designated space helps create a sense of calm and focus, so you can get into a free flow.
5. Embrace the Process, Not Just the Outcome:
Recognize and appreciate the journey of creation, enjoying every step along the way. Embrace imperfections, experiment, and allow yourself the freedom to make mistakes. Mistakes are lessons to learn from. Remember that the process itself can be emotionally fulfilling, rather than solely focusing on the end result.. This is the “rule” of Be Happy Now!
6. Express Authentically:
Give yourself permission to express your emotions through your creative work. Tap into your feelings, thoughts, and experiences, and infuse them into your creation. Expressing yourself authentically adds depth and personal meaning to your work, making it more emotionally satisfying.
7. Practice Mindfulness:
Engage in your creative activity with a mindful approach. Focus on the present moment, fully immersing yourself in the process. Let go of any distractions or judgments, and allow yourself to fully connect with your emotions as they arise during the creative journey.
8. Share and Connect:
Seek opportunities to share your creation with others who appreciate and understand your art form. Connect with like-minded individuals through workshops, online communities, or local groups. Sharing your work allows you to connect on an emotional level, receive feedback, and foster a sense of belonging.
9. Reflect and Celebrate:
Take time to reflect on your creative journey once you’ve completed a project. Acknowledge and celebrate the emotional fulfillment you have derived from the process. Recognize the progress you've made, the emotions you've explored, and the personal growth you've experienced through your creative endeavors.
Remember, creating something for emotional fulfillment is a deeply personal and unique process. Adapt these steps to suit your individual preferences, and let your creative journey be a source of joy, expression, and emotional well-being.
I’ve just provided the steps to a process that can take time to find results and keep your creative juices flowing for many days.
